As i have about 5 hours free before work today,i will try to get the rest of the metal cut to fit in the holes on the floor. As i'm newish to metal work,i'm taking my time, making a template out of cardboard, then cutting out with a cutting disk.

This is the story of Mildred our beloved Volkswagen T 25 transporter. Mildred is the name my youngest son gave to it after a visit to Bewilderwood in Norfolk.

                                                          Mildred in The New Forrest.

We have owned it now for 13 months and although they have been mostly good, with some highlights, there have been some lowlights. We first decided to buy a camper after a trip to Glastonbury Festival in 2011,where we camped in our trailer tent, which was our first introduction to camping in something other than a bog standard tent.My significant other "Raquel" first expressed her interest in VW campers at Glastonbury,so when we got home we started to look around to see what was available and at what prices. We quickly realised a T1 or T2 was probably out of our price range,or at least till the kids leave home,so decided to look for a T25,which realistically would be a lot more practical for our needs.

You can pay anything from £1500 for something that will need work to over £10,000 for a nice top of the range and showroom condition model. we paid £4000 for our 1986 1.6 diesel model, from a bloke off the number 1 online auction site,we traveled from Scarborough to Bristol to collect it at the end of March 2012 and what a lovely day it was to drive the 300 miles,we found the house quite easily as we have been to Bristol several times before and usually pass through on the way to Glastonbury Festival and we went for a few nights several years ago in search of Nelson Mandella House,as Only Fools and Horses was filmed mainly in Bristol and it's also home to quite a few bits of Banksy graffiti.

As usual when someone sells a car they leave just fumes in the petrol tank,so you have the worrying task of trying to find a petrol station before it runs out, also you are never 100% about whether the fuel gauge is working correctly. We found a petrol station, filled up with Diesel, checked the oil and water and off we went, setting off back on the 300 mile return trip to Scarborough.
